The Cinema Museum

Student noteThis museum is housed in the former Lambeth Workhouse, where Chaplin lived as a child. The exhibits aren't about filmmaking itself, but recreate the old cinema-going experience from Britain's Picture Palaces: neon signage, velvet seats, vintage ticket machines and projectors, all salvaged from real cinemas. It's volunteer-run, and old film fans will get more out of it than casual visitors, since many of the old star posters are hard to place if you're not already into classic cinema.
