Student noteTucked near Old Bond Street, the Linnean Society was founded in 1788 and is the world's oldest biological society — Darwin's On the Origin of Species was first announced here. Downstairs you can see Darwin's notebooks and Linnaeus's specimens, and the upstairs library is free to visit, though you need to book 24 hours ahead to consult any documents.
